It’s a bit pathetic that the mainstream media made a far bigger deal about the 25th anniversary of Lee Elia’s tirade last week than they have about the 10th anniversary of one of the greatest MLB games ever pitched. Enjoy reliving Kid K’s masterpiece and hating Kevin Orie just one more time.

I gave away my tickets to this game… to a Sox fan.
I never cease to amaze myself as to how big an idiot I can be.

They aren’t showing many in that highlight reel since they stuck to the strikeout pitches, but Wood did get some very generous calls in that game, but it was still outstanding watching that on teevee.

Still remember watching this game on TV and being glued to every pitch. I really thought Woody was gonna be the next coming of Nolan Ryan and put up several 20 win seasons. Sigh.

Man, ten years ago. And then he struck out 14 in his next start to set the record for Ks in consecutive games.

Talking like a total Cubs fan here….
If Wood is in a last game scenario, one inning between the Cubs and the promised land, I’d love to see him break out that nasty breaking ball again. Amazing that the guy pitches as he has without using one of the most devastating breaking balls in the past couple decades.
