I can’t tell you who, and I can’t tell you what, and I’m not really sure on why and how, but a source who asked to remain unnamed has suggested that the Brian Roberts hostage crisis has been delayed due to the inclusion of one Felix Pie and one Erik Bedard in the trade conversations (I hope you guys know me well enough to understand that the source is NOT some stupid shit from some other website). Rumor has it that Jim Hendry is looking to make this big move right before the Cubs Convention so he can answer questions that aren’t, “Is that jelly on your shirt or blood?” Should Hendry manage to land both Bedard and Roberts from the Orioles, you have to assume the cost to the Cubs would be huge.
This is not from my source, but I’m speculating here: Is it possible that Mark DeRosa might go back the other way? I like DeRosa, but it’s clear he wants to be an everyday player, and the Orioles will need someone other than Freddie Bynum to play second.
