Cubs Give Bowener to A’s, Cubs Fans
CHICAGO–ESPN reports that the Cubs have acquired catcher Jason Kendall from the Oakland Athletics for catcher Rob Bowen. Kendall is struggling this season, batting only .226 with a .261 OBP. However, Kendall is a lifetime .298 hitter with a .375 OBP. The Cubs also sent a minor league player to the A’s. HJE will have the name of the second player as soon as possible.
UPDATE: The Cubs gave up Jerry Blevins along with Bowen.

Giving up Marshall would have been criminally retarded. Blevins is a 24-year-old in AA, and Rob Neyer has never heard of him. I don’t think we should lose too much sleep over him. It looks to be a salary dump by Beane.
On Baseball Tonight, they kept showing on the ticker on the bottom that it was Bowen and Blevins for Kendall and stupid Karl Ravech kept saying it was Marshall.
Duh…just look down.
ya Kendall has 13 mil remaining, 5 mil of which Pittsburgh picked up, and the A’s are picking the vast majority of the rest. Kendall is a FA after this year, so Soto’s progress won’t be blocked (unless they resign him). Let’s hope the NL forgets how to get Kendall out b/c the AL sure had him figured out

Oh, sweet, last night after the game ESPN reported that the Cubs were giving up Marshall for Kendall, and I was WAY less enthusiastic about that deal than I am about this one.
