TECHNICAL DIFFICULTIES
If you’re seeing this, you’re lucky. The server has been dodgy all day, and I am in the process of resolving this issue. Please be patient.
UPDATE: Aaaand, we’re back. Sorry about that, folks. Server issues. Since we were down all day, I went ahead and upgraded the operating software. A couple of changes to note:
- You now have to be a registered user to use the Shoutbox. If there is a big outcry about this, I might decide to change it back. But it’s free to register, and it’s not like I’m going to send you e-mails or anything.
- The text input box for the Shoutbox is bigger now, which should make editing messages easier.
- The Shoutbox now shows the last 100 comments instead of the last 35, which makes it less likely that you’ll ever miss anything that ever happens.
- I’ve been having to delete upwards of 50 spam comments in the posts, which has been an annoying waste of time, so I have set the comments section so that you must have one previously-approved post to be able to post comments. I don’t think this should have much of an effect, but if you’re wondering why you have a post in moderation, that’s the reason.
- If the spam doesn’t stop, I am going to have to start hold any comments with a hyperlink in them for moderation. Don’t worry. They will get approved, but they may not show up instantly. My hope is that #4 will solve the problem and I won’t have to do this, but just so you’re aware, it might happen in the near future.
- When you are posting a comment, you will now be able to see a preview of your comment immediately below the text box. That way you can immediately see which html code does (and doesn’t) work.

BK, we need to be registered to use the shoutbox now?
