Sun-Times, Tribune, Cubs.com Frantically Writing Pastry Puns
CHICAGO–On Sunday, the Cubs placed outfielder Daryle Ward on the 15-day disabled list and recalled center fielder Felix Pie.
In preparation for the move, editors at the Sun-Times, Tribune, and Cubs.com have worked all morning developing new pie-related puns such as the following:
“Pie Gets Another Cup of Coffee”
“Hendry Always Has Room for Pie”
“Pie is Good and I Like to Eat Pie” (that last from Cubs.com)

Don’t you mean, “Second helping of Pie still leaves Cubs unfulfilled?”
Isn’t that what you mean?
Because that would be clever.
Headline in Iowa papers tomorrow…..
“Calling for Pie leaves Iowa hungry for CF”
In the Tribune tomorrow……
“Hard to keep Pie down, keeps coming back up.”
A meal, Pie does not make.
Where’s the static from Lou calling out Hendry during his postgame interview the other day? He flat-out said he doesn’t have the horses…no response from high roller Hendry. He was probably eating actual pie. Nice thing about a 9 run lead - even the Cub bullpen has to be worse than normal to F that up.
Hendry was on TV yesterday during the game. His response was typical. He believes the players are better than they’ve shown. In other words, he believes that hoping they play better is as good as, you know, bringing in good players and getting rid of bad ones. Brilliant.
well i’m hoping Pie carries that .400+ avg from the minors with him, at least into the .300 range with .360 or so obp. Then we can trade JJones, cash, and an apology letter to the receiving team for a bag of balls. The cash amount would be face value for said bag of balls.

At least nobody’s made the joke about him needing to wear 3.14 900 bajillion times. I’m sure the muskrat will come up with something great. The headline should read “Pie Recalled; Won’t Help”.
