Win One for the Little Guys; Boycott ESPN

The more I’ve been thinking about the snarky little bullshit stunt that ESPN loudmouth jackass Colin Cowherd pulled on the outstanding site, The Big Lead, the angrier I’m getting.

Cowherd is the Grover Dill of the mainstream media. He’s not tough enough (or smart enough) to be Scut Farkus, but he’s happy hiding behind Farkus with his green teeth and fingerless gloves and yelling, “Who’s next?”

And he’s decided to set his sites on bloggers. Well, f@#$ that. I’m a blogger. If anyone knew this site was here, it could have been me that had his site shut down because that twerp unleashed his idiots onto it.

So I, for one, am totally boycotting ESPN from now on. No going to the .com for scores. I’ll use MLB.com or CBSsportsline.com. I’m taking any ESPN-related site off my Google Reader. I’m deprogramming ESPN 1000 from my car radio. I encourage all of you to support The Big Lead and do the same. What are you going to miss? A Mike & Mike mutual masturbation session? Blatantly racist statements from some of their black columnists? A “witty” pop culture reference from the self-fellating Sports Guy? Jon Miller? John Kruk? Joe Morgan?

ESPN, through one of its agents, has thrown down the gauntlet to the blogging world. I say the blogging world throws back. It starts here.

What? No Simmons? But he INVENTED blogging!
And what about that name Deadspin or whoever picked out for Cowherd? Schrutebag? That’s gay. Dwight Schrute is awesome. That’s quite possibly the worst name they could’ve chosen.
And I hope you don’t vacate your team in your ESPN fantasy baseball league, BK. I don’t plan to, but I do forget about it somedays. Most days, really.
I’ll probably avoid ESPN, though. Not to make you happy, but just because I can’t think of anything in the next few days that I want to watch on there.

God damnit the fantasy team. Okay, I’ll still manage my fantasy team, but ONLY because there’s money on it.

Hear, hear. I just took them off my RSS reader. Although since I now abhor SI and ESPN, Fox needs to really step things up for me to get my news.

I was going to post this on OBoS, Scrap, but it seems like Cowherd is pretty well taken care of over there. I’m primarily relying on MLB.com for baseball news now. They’re not bad for the big stories, at least.

Kermit, I agree, but dammit, I get the feeling that there’s some Daisake Matsuzaka information I’m going to miss out on. Did you know he struck out 10 Royals in 7 innings yesterday? And that he will face Ichiro in Boston’s home opener next week? I really want to join your boycott, but this is rotten timing.

Flem, I propose an easy solution:

1. Learn to read Japanese.
2. Read all the Japanese over-coverage of Dicey Matt Sudoku.

How did KSK not incorporate the word “Coward” into their nickname for him?! It’s RIGHT THERE, PEOPLE!

That’s what I’m saying. They’re going with a TERRIBLE choice. It’s not even the least bit funny.

Because most people at NSBB can’t go to ROTOWORLD.COM for some reason, I normally like to post their little quips about professional athletes. That way, I not only up my post count, but i get to add lots and lots of topics. If there was a count for that, I’d be in the lead for sure!

Warning: Len and Bob have stated explicitly that if there’s a rain delay, you’ll be seeing footage of their “concert”. I advise anyone with eardrums to move away from the television in the event of inclement weather. I saw a clip of their “music”, and I warn you all now, it’s worse than Brandon Arroyo.

But at least they know theirs is bad.
