Flushing Out The 2008 ANGER
It’s been fifty days since the Cubs ended their season with the resistance of rice paper, and I’m still ANGRY.
When the playoffs began, Kerm had set up a Magic Number=11 thread, in the hopes of counting down the number of wins for a World Championship. Pathetically, for the second straight season, not one [...]
The “HJE Presidential Issue”
Don’t worry, this is not a partisan entry. Kerm is downright painfully neutral, and my baby-killing, Communist ways are typically confined to the ShoutBox, where the rhetorical battle of ideologies is hashed out daily with greedy, heartless gubment-hatin’ Morpheus, Tinkers-to-Evers-to-Chance, Section 242 and St. Patrick trading volleys with tree-huggin’ flag-hatin’ hippies Forklift, Thrillho, Oleg [...]
Cubs Infield Not Fond Of “Carlos Zambrano Day”
Not much you can say about last night’s game. It’s clear where they’re at. Here’s hoping we’re still talking baseball Monday and that’ll depend on what happens at Dodger Stadium this weekend.
Happy Carlos Zambrano Day!
It’s simple.
The Lawnmower gains control, or else the Cubs will need a miracle. So we’re not at “praying for a miracle” yet. We haven’t used that card. No sir. Not yet.
And any of you sackless spazzes that want DOOM, please just leave and never come back. Seriously.

This Is What A Division Champion Looks Like
Okay, so this was really just an excuse to exploit my daughter for personal “aawwwww” effect. Besides, the starting eight that took the field today, while technically a division winner, is more likely to win a division that rewards its champions with 7 cases of Schlitz and a year’s subscription to a magazine.

What Do You Get When You Add 8 And 3?
Something magical?
MVP! MVP! MVP!
Last season, I felt jusified in beginning this chant for Aramis Ramirez after he hit his dramatic lead-changing, walkoff homerun last year against the Brewers.
Of course, it’s hard to give the award to a player whose team squeaks into the playoffs with 85 wins.
Conversely, it’s hard to give it to one player on [...]
Jason’s Last Stand?
A week ago, we sized up the final six weeks of the Cubs’ season and developed a scenario where the Cubs could have the division wrapped up with a week to go, where they could spend that final week setting up their playoff rotation while also playing spoiler to the Brewers and Mets.
The first phase [...]
