These cannot be sold, transferred, refunded...

I’m idiotically and unfortunately involved in a Cubs ticket package with several other people. Even worse, most of the games I’ve selected haven’t yet taken place. Since the tickets are unsellable, I can basically only give the tickets away or go to the games. The same option was left with Pre, one of the other members of the ticket package.

Pre couldn’t go to last Monday night’s game against the Washington Nationals, so he passed the tickets along to me. As you are probably aware, the game was rained out. I should have probably just assumed that the game would be rained out before I made the trek down to the city. I didn’t, though at least I didn’t play into the Rickettses’ hands by going into the game to get a stupid giveaway hat. I went to a bar, the game was canceled, and I didn’t spend a cent of my money on the Cubs.

The rainout date was announced to be Thursday afternoon, only three days later. I overnighted the tickets back to Pre, but he couldn’t (or, more likely, wouldn’t) go to Thursday afternoon’s game. The Cubs refused to provide a refund or tickets to an alternate game.

Fucking bullshit. Fuck these assholes for acting like their tickets are so in demand that they can’t give out rain checks.

Not only was the game rescheduled only three days later, but it was also switched from a night game to a day game. I understand the Nationals were already in town and wanted to get out of there. Fuck the Nationals, but fine. Let’s assume the Cubs had basically no choice but to reschedule the game for Thursday.

But at the very LEAST they should have given their “loyal” patrons the option for tickets to a different game. It’s not like they’re selling out the fucking games, so I know there are tickets available.

Moreover, are these “businessmen” so stupid that they don’t understand that they’re better off giving people alternate tickets to a game which they can actually attend? That they don’t make money on beer, stupid hats, and food unless people can actually attend the game? Nope, but that won’t stop them from announcing their “paid attendance” as if there are actually people sitting in the stands. I hope this season is the last straw for most Cubs fans and that the park is as empty as Todd Ricketts’ head next year.

Fuck this ownership. I miss the Tribune Company.
