I am a lady, and am nuts-free, so I vote for getting hit with a hammer. I am also trying to wean myself off the Cubs, but am having trouble because my source and his brother come over to watch the Cubs when they are on the road. I wish he would travel with the team. I think they have the hots for my flat screen amd my cooking.

Playing indoor soccer sans the benefit of an “athletic supporter”, I took a shot to the franks-n-beans a couple of times. Not fun. I guess I’ll go with watching the game.

Having said that. I am glad Metrocast cable doesn’t carry WGN out here. Surfing the Cubs’ blogs ( not including the propaganda Cubs.com) I am seeing lots of unhappiness from Cubs Nation. This may sound like conspiracy theory, but does anyone get the sense that the Tribune Co. subconsciously marketed the Cubs’ “Loveable Losers” tag over the last quarter century or so? Than’s the only justification for Wrigley Field to be still packed in August while the host team has no shot at contending. “Fun at the Ol’ Ballpark” means much less when 1) you know of expansion franchises that have won pennants and World Series (fuck you Marlins) and 2) the Cubs organization believes that Cub fans will settle for anything and make only marginal improvements to the team while not seriously pushing to end The Drought.

I’m gonna get banned for saying this one of these days, but I’m going to be pushing for the Fire for the rest of the season. I’ve been a Cub fan since 1981, and these last six years it’s been hard to love a team that doesn’t love you back.

I know many of the HJE posters don’t care much for soccer, but I’m simply trying to illustrate that, for paying the second-highest ticket prices in MLB, for a sport run by a used-car salesman, and for playing in the weakest division in MLB…CUBS NATION DESERVES BETTER! >:-(
