They are not excited in LA for Theriot. They even reference the TOOTBLAN. But Wrigleyville23 gets the credit.
No offense to WV23, but TOOTBLAN is the dumbest goddamn thing ever.

I think part of the reason that TOOTBLAN was created was because the Chicago media and a large number of fans were under the impression that Theriot was a 110% guy who played baseball the “right way.” And there’s no easier to way to disprove that than by showing what an idiot the guy was on the basepaths. He was routinely thrown out on plays that were fundamentally unsound and these TOOTBLANs showed his poor baseball acumen.
There’s a lot more to the story than has come out, so far. The Cubs traded Fontenot to an American League contender for a highly rated middle relief pitcher, in the last year of his front-loaded contract. That was at 11 AM. At 1:45, they made the deal with the Dodgers for DeWitt, who was supposed to be a replacement for Fontenot. DeWitt is a similar type player, with a little less power. At about 15 minutes before the deadline, the named pitcher invoked his no-trade clause, as he did not want to go to the Cubs. The Cubs had already turned down other offers for Fontenot, and it was too late to re-negotiate. They will probably keep DeWitt because he will be in his first year of arbitration, wheraes Fontenot will be in his second. Mikey will probably go the waiver route.
Our scrappiness just went down .45 Ecksteins with one fell swoop. Hope you’re happy.

Don’t despair of something to satirize just because Theriot is gone. The Cubs will continue to provide fodder for ridicule. If they don’t, you guys seem rather creative. By the way, I have some information for the off-season. Jeff Baker’s other glute has also collapsed, but this is not affecting his play. He will undergo cosmetic surgery on both his cheeks in the off-season. He is in no immediate discomfort, but has lost all of his sitzfleisch. He has been putting foam rubber “falsies” in his sliding shorts.

No, Summerguy, it is no joke, just a sidebar. Apparently the burns went deeper than we thought they did. The good news is that the problen is not life-threatenimg, nor will it harm his career.
The bad news is that someone in the Cubs clubhouse can’t keep his mouth shut. (Or maybe he isn’t in the Cubs clubhouse any more). But, as I said, the Cubs will continue to provide reason for ridicule over and above what happens on the field. Why did you spell my name wrong?
@EdelweiÃ? – Why the hell would any AL “contender” trade a highly rated pitcher for Fontenot? Relief or not, good pitching is good pitching. Any team making a serious playoff run would have to be braindead to give that up for an average-at-best (being generous here) 2nd baseman who still needs a booster seat at Shakey’s.
On a side note, the Cubs have been outscored 62-17 during their six-game losing streak.

Am I ever frustrated!!! I have breaking news, but am afraid to give details, as the story has not yet broken, and may not for a while. Suffice it to say that some players will file sexual harassment claims, (or may have already done so), against the Cubs organization. The only hint I can give now is that those gigantic high heels found in the Cubs clubhouse do not belong to any of the players. Also, the person named was involved in another scandal in the Chicago area about 12 years ago.

Unfortunately, I think the Hawks are going to be a poor reflection of last year’s team. I’d be surprised if they make it out of the second round of the playoffs. But at least they’ll make the playoffs which I doubt the Cubs will make for at least 3 or 4 years.

What’s going on here these days? I remember the good ol’ days when there was a post everyday no matter how bad the team was. We would argue over Juan Pierre and Felix Pie for hundreds of posts, what happened? No new post in a week, and that post was one sentence. There has been no round-up I think for a couple weeks, now. Has Kerm completely jumped ship? Is there a “Hire Tom Kelly” Twins site that he is putting all his attention too? Has 2010 officially spelled the end for this site? It’s a shame, this was the best place for a Cubs fan to go and laugh about the team that makes us all want to jump off the Sears…ummm…Willis Tower.
