Man, I had completely forgotten what a spectacular douchenugget Rob Dibble was back in his playing days. I like to think that Skip would have taken a piece out of his ass by himself had he not gotten run by Country Joe earlier in that game…

I was in the left field bleachers but don’t recall getting splashed with beer. I do remember it was a perfectly gorgeous summer night.

And everything Edelweiss said about Theriot is spot on. God I hate that camera-and-microphone–addicted stone-handed muppet. So. Much.

To hear Lou Piniella and David Kaplan tell it, Ryan Theriot is Hall-of Fame caliber. The Cubs have some players, like Byrd, Colvin, Castro, and, now Ramirez, who are providing some spark for the team, but they insist on making Theriot the team spokesman. The Cubs have managed to win in spite of him, but he has done little to produce runs. He also has made twice as many errors as he is charged with. Other Cubs players do not run towards the microphone when they have nothing to brag about, but Theriot is allowed to make a fool of himself. Even mark DeRosa , who always spoke for the team, managed to lie low when he was less than stellar. It is one thing to make allowances for Castro, who is just a 20 year old rookie, when he messes up, but Theriot is 30, and in his fifth year as a regular; he should be past the learning stage. You would never know it, to hear Len and Bob talk. They give him high praises for handling routine plays. That is the way mentally challenged people are treated.

Nice. Roan had better hurry home though because Danny, Uncle Jesse, and Kirk Cameron’s creepy horse-faced little sister are planning a surprise party for him. Danny and Uncle Jesse are both hiding in the closet right now in fact (though that has nothing to do with the party).
