Here’s the part where I point out that Carlos Zambrano is a very good pitcher. And now here is the part where I point out that he’s a fucking psychopath and I’m sick of his bullshit. In case you missed it today (and, if you have any common sense whatsoever, you’re not watching this game), Carlos went off on Derrek Lee. Derrek Lee is the most comatose, mild-mannered Cub on the roster. Ryan Dempster once pranked Derrek Lee by hooking his nipples up to a car battery while Lee was sleeping. It drained the whole battery before Lee even rolled over. So it makes sense that Zambrano would go off on him.
Maybe Carlos can’t stand watching this team play any more than I can.

Is it Bears season – awwwwww, crap, they suck too. Is it hockey season yet?
Thumb Gorzelanny is EXACTLY the spark this team needs!!!!! Blessing in disguise!!!!! WELCOME BACK TO THE ROTATION, YOUNG MAN.
also I hate baseball, Z, Aramis, Lou, and everything I used to love. ;_;
Screw it, I don’t care how much of dick he was acting like, after throwing only 21 pitches I would have sent his ass back out there. Lou is on TV now acting like this is the worst thing that has happened like the rest of season has been a damn pleasure cruise. At least someone is finally getting pissed about this crap.
@santo10 – agreed. Also, when is Lou gonna get pissed at something?
He’s still just mad that nobody bought his book ….
Bunch’a fuckhens. Fuck em.
and now he’s suspended indefinitely? When do we trade him for Cliff Lee?
http://sports.espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/news/story?id=5328972
i don’t know if it’s because espn is terrible, but really? he might be suspended the rest of the year? i didn’t realize heart was an actual statistic. well, let’s hope fontenot and theriot start contributing in that, because they’re useless otherwise. i hate this team so much
Hey, there’s TWO baseball teams in Chicago.
You could always switch to being a Sox fan.
:D
DOOOOOOMMMMMMMM!!!!
BTW, you suck, Sox fan!!!
DOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM!!!!!!
@Moon – I actually already was a Sox fan at one point. Then I turned 10 and started to watch real baseball.
@Starlin Castrated –
You started watching the Yankees??
I liked seeing Lee tell him to “Shut the fuck up.” At least that’s what it looks like he’s mouthing.
Jim Hendry is being a big douche bag, inferring that your player sucks does not help his trade value. His pitching has not been terrible the last two years, he hasn’t gotten any run support, most of the pitchers haven’t. Then this year they stuck his ass in the pen, I am surprised he hasn’t gone postal before this. Did they really think that was going to have no effect on him? So far he did everything they asked to this year, and now they are going to try to use him as a scapegoat.
‘Heart’ and ‘Passion’ are great things to see from a baseball player, and I’ve always loved that about Z. That being said, this particular incident is really pointless and stupid, even when measured on Zambrano’s own scale of kooky rage.
Like Pinella said, “…at first, I thought he was mad at himself for giving up a 3-run homer on a 2 strike pitch.”
Fuck Z…im done with that fat venezuelan fuck. i sat through the blow-ups and the fights with michael barrett and missing starts from using his FUCKING COMPUTER too much…but thats the last straw fellows. fat z should be begging for lee to allow him to suck his left nut right about now. go to the AL and become a DH or something because id rather have justin fucking berg on the mound then you right now, and thats saying something
ok now seeing as how i only comment here every once in a blue moon i feel like this little tirade is probably comment of the week worthy material? lets make it happen BK
Campaigning for comment of the week?
Poor form, old boy.
@James –
There was a lot of the “That’s bullshit” from Lee.
Would now be a good time to point out that BOTH Derrek Lee and Z have done jack shit this year? Same with Aramis. As far as I’m concerned, Z is far more valuable to this team than Lee. I’m not shrugging off Z’s antics yesterday–he looked like a 3 year old throwing a tantrum–but as many have said, at least someone on this team is finally getting pissed about how much they suck. I’d like to see Z stick around, but I wonder if his relationship with the Cubs is damaged beyond repair, and vice versa.
If it wasn’t apparent before, it should be now: it’s time to blow this team up, forget about competing for a year or two, and build for the future. Get rid of big contracts (if you can, thanks to Jim “oh, you want a no-trade clause too, why the hell not” Hendry), get anything you can in return, and build for the future. While this will cause the Cubs to suck even more than they do now, at least tickets to see this shitshow will (in theory) be easier to come by. Why anyone would want to watch this disaster is another matter all together…..
“Heart” and “passion”. Fuck that. Baseball is a fucking job, and Z is getting paid a fuckload of money to do said job. Is it so hard for him to go out there for an hour for 32 or so games and act like a fucking professional? You make all that money and you still have to act like an asshole? If it were any other job in the world, he would be canned for acting like that. I agree 100 percent with Lou and Jim (sigh) that it’s embarrassing. If you want to get mad about work, do it like the rest of us–take it out on your wife at home.
P.S. Good to see Doom back commenting.
Ghana 2, USA 1 in overtime.
Dammit.
God I hope the Fire start contending again or this summer is gonna suck.
Maybe this could become something that brings the team together. Ozzie Guillen is right – Z should make a public apology to all the players he dissed. He should do it on his own, without any prompting by Lou or anyone else. Remember, this is a temper tantrum; Z is not Milton Bradley. I watched the rewind of thst first inning several times , and it does not look like any of those three hits could have been fielded. Diving for balls that are falling fast sometimes results in a great catch, but none of those hits fit into that category. D Lee is a good ist baseman, but he rarely dives for balls. The last time Ramirez did it, he separated his shoulder. Fontenot seems to never finish a game with a clean uniform, and has made lots of great plays diving and stretching out, but it wouldn’t have worked on this play. I’m sure Z has looked at the footage, and realizes he was wrong. The ball is now in his glove, and Lou should give him a chance to make amends. I’ll bet the infielders are willing to forgive him if he does the right thing.
@Starlin Castrated
Don’t look for Fontenot to contribute much – unless he gets more playing time.
Lou tried to get himself thrown out of the 13 inning game the day before. Bob Brenly said it best ,”this is a dead-ass team…Nice to some emotion” but a little misdirected but Big Z is crazy. Maybe if he punched somebody in the face this team would get it’s act together.
But the most important sporting event of this summer is the signing of LeBron James!
@Edelweiss – He can’t contribute in heart? Saaaaaaaaaaad. Is he the tin man? And does that make Dempster the scarecrow? Who’s the cowardly lion then? Fukudome? He looks like he would like lions…
The Tampa Bay Rays are a bunch of fucking copy cats.
Looks like they are trying to piss off Z enough to wave his no trade clause. He hated being in the bullpen, and now they just moved him back there. I would love to see him, and just about every current Cub gone, but can they really get anything for these overpaid players?
It is time to press the reset button on this era of Cubs, but with the bloated contracts and no-trade clauses, it is easier said than done.
The only thing Big Z has ever cared about his himself. He can pretend that he was trying to fire up this team, but he’s not been in contact with the team who have reached out to him. Even Silva, his only real friend on the team, wasn’t happy. Either was Soriano, who has also reached out. The other players? Well…They weren’t ‘pumped’ up. They were pissed. At him. He didn’t pump the team, he alienated himself and embarrassed this team and himself. Don’t be fooled otherwise.
The Big Z is a big zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. This organization is a disaster. I just punched myself in the balls for being a long time fan of the Cubs.
I just can’t bring myself to be even a little pissed a Zambrano for this, I hate this team so much this year for how terrible they are that I don’t give a shit what happens in the dugout. Sticking him in the bull pen is still a shitty idea, Z pitches close to 200 innings every year and has a decent career win record. Gorzelanny got over 200 innings once, and has an overall losing record and higher career ERA. I get that this is all a push to get him to wave his no trade clause, but I feel like its a huge overreaction.
@santo10 – That’s fine. I’ll just hate him twice as much so it all balances out.
@Bad Kermit – Thanks
As long as we are airing our feelings in public over Zambrano, there is one thing I have to get off my chest…
“The ball that Milt Pappas threw was clearly outside”
There. I said it. I feel so much better now.
@DVXPrime – Just because it’s Pride Week doesn’t mean you need to go talking about soccer on here.
@Starlin Castrated
It is hard to contribute anything, including heart when you aren’t even allowed in the dugout, let alone the field. Players like Zambrano, who act out get treated better than players who do what is asked of them.
JerBear50:
Cubs and White Sox are two of the highest ticket prices in MLB, and they are both staring at 100 loss seasons.
Bears are staring down another sub-.500 season, draft and free agent signings be damned.
Lebron isn’t signing for the Bulls, who have devolved into an uncoachable mob.
No Blackhawks until October.
I’m sick of supporting all the losing franchises in this town. If you have any other ideas please share them.
