Hello Cub fans and friends! It’s been awhile since I took the time to post anything but my comment of the week. Let’s be honest. Following the Cubs the past couple seasons has been as fun as following the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2004-05 season.

But I appear today to pay homage to said Blackhawks, who can claim the Stanley Cup with a win in Philadelphia tonight. Of the four major Chicago sports teams (and sorry, Fire and Sting fans, I’m not counting you) to win a championship in the last 30 years, it’s obvious how the teams’ leaders have played a big role in the success. What is it that they all have in common? I’m sure the Ricketts are curious.

Let’s take a look at coach Joel Quenneville, the fearless leader of the Blackhawks:

What does he have in common with other coaches to win championships in Chicago?

Well, there’s Ozzie Guillen of the 2005 White Sox:

Who can forget Phil Jackson and his six titles with the Bulls?

Finally, Mike Ditka and his 1985 Bears need no introduction from us:

We can even look to Mike Keenan, who led the Blackhawks to a Campbell Conference championship before being swept by the Pittsburgh Penguins for a little bit of that “Je ne sais quois:”

Yep, they all have it, and the fuller it is, the more success they seem to have.

If only the Cubs could hire a manager with a mustache. Know any that are available?

Oh well. Until next time.
