Hello Cub fans and friends! It’s been awhile since I took the time to post anything but my comment of the week. Let’s be honest. Following the Cubs the past couple seasons has been as fun as following the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2004-05 season.
But I appear today to pay homage to said Blackhawks, who can claim the Stanley Cup with a win in Philadelphia tonight. Of the four major Chicago sports teams (and sorry, Fire and Sting fans, I’m not counting you) to win a championship in the last 30 years, it’s obvious how the teams’ leaders have played a big role in the success. What is it that they all have in common? I’m sure the Ricketts are curious.
Let’s take a look at coach Joel Quenneville, the fearless leader of the Blackhawks:

What does he have in common with other coaches to win championships in Chicago?
Well, there’s Ozzie Guillen of the 2005 White Sox:

Who can forget Phil Jackson and his six titles with the Bulls?

Finally, Mike Ditka and his 1985 Bears need no introduction from us:

We can even look to Mike Keenan, who led the Blackhawks to a Campbell Conference championship before being swept by the Pittsburgh Penguins for a little bit of that “Je ne sais quois:”

Yep, they all have it, and the fuller it is, the more success they seem to have.
If only the Cubs could hire a manager with a mustache. Know any that are available?
Oh well. Until next time.

Fear the ‘stache.
Is this your subtle way of saying Hire Bob Brenley?
Have you seen Lou lately?
He looks like a degenerate after a drinking binge. I guess that’s what managing the Cubs can do.
I have hated to say this because he is my age, but Lou has aged so much the last two years, that he is no longer fit to manage. he has lost contral of the team, and lets the players call the shots. They do not play as a team, but are scrapping among themselves for playing time. Lou says one thing and does another, and, because of this, has no credability. When you promise that players can earn playing time, and don’t give them a chance to do it, they will no longer believe you. If you are a atarter, and are told that you will lose playing time, and you continue to be on the lineup card, why should you be concerned? Someone else needs to be in charge, and Bob Brenley would be a good choice,

Skip’s stache was epic, but the theory doesn’t work one hundred percent. Wannstedt had a big mustache, but his was truly evil knowing how he made the Bears into a joke with his awful coaching and personnel moves. Jerry Manuel when he managed the Sox had a stache as well and he did such a good job he was fired to make way for Ozzie who managed the World Champs before we found out that he’s a moron that doesn’t have his focus on the team half the time (Yes, I’m a Sox fan). Speaking of which, Ozzie’s facial hair in that photo is more of a goatee than a true mustache.
