Oh, Jim Hendry. Just when you had me excited about the Xavier Nady signing and the Chad Tracy signing, you do something silly, like sign Kevin Millar. There is likely no way this move will affect the Major League club. Millar sucks and likely can’t outplay, well- anyone. If he makes his way to Chicago, the team is doomed, anyhow. He’s just an annoying, loudmouth moron who is excited that he gets to play grabass with Ryan Dempster during Spring Training. Remember how cute and HILARIOUS that was before the 2008 season? He’ll bring his absurdly capped teeth and his nonsensical catchphrases (“Cowboy up”? Really?) to any microphone that will listen to him. Millar was part of that incredibly annoying 2004 Red Sox team, and he’s basically an amplified version of all the bad parts of Todd Walker.
Since it’s only a minor-league deal, it’s hard to get actively angry about this move, but it sure is easy to hate Kevin Millar. And, Lord, I hate me some Kevin Millar.

David Kaplan will love him as much as he loves Ryan Theriot. Maybe he was hired to be the team’s spokesperson,in case they can’t come to terms with Theriot. He is nothing to look at, but those arms are a thing of beauty.
In the words of The Bunk, “You’re not just a run of the mill asshole, are you Millar? Naw, you’re a special kind of asshole.”
Why is Paul Lynde wearing an Orioles uniform?
This sums up so much of how I feel about Kevin Millar. Wish’d I’d have thought of your post title for mine over at TMS.
What the hell does “cowboy up” even mean? I asked some loser red sox fans and they couldn’t tell me they just said it was awesome and I wouldn’t understand. I took that to mean “we’re morons and if the red soxs tell us to eat shit, we will”. Welcome to Des Moines douche bag.
The Iowa Cubs could be an contender! Coach ‘em up Ryno!
He stated in an interview “Cant wait to play for those Cubbies” Guh
@original al – He couldn’t have just said Cubs?
@original al – awww hell, is he going to try to be an annoying cheerleader or something?
Looks like Yellon was just a year too early in his predictions. Recall: http://www.bleedcubbieblue.com/2008/10/20/637547/building-a-cubs-champion-i
To quote Al: “Ryan Dempster, who was supposedly the “loosen up” leader in the clubhouse, says he’d love to play with Millar….
[T]here is value in him beyond his statistics, and yes, that is important when you play a game where 25 men basically spend six months together in close proximity.”
I’m in favor of adding a close proximity value to sabermetrics. Anyone else?
Shut you right up
