Well, the Milton Bradley era sure was fun. After Bradley inexplicably decided to throw the media and pretty much the entire Cub organization under the bus (HT: John), Jim Hendry retaliated by suspending Bradley for the rest of the season. How many times in MLB history has a guy been suspended just for being a dick?
It’s pretty clear that Hendry’s first priority in the offseason is going to be to unload Bradley for anything. I think Bradley’s “woe is me” attitude has been tiresome and lame all year. In case anyone still cares about anyone else’s opinion of this bad team, I disagree with Hendry’s quote, “That’s just something that’s intolerable to me, to blame the fans and the other things that were blamed.”
Maybe there is a Bradley quote that isn’t being reported, but I honestly don’t see how you can say he’s blaming the fans based on the quotes in that article.
…you understand why they haven’t won in 100 years here.
Blaming management, past players, history, the fates, a billy goat.
I need a stable, healthy, enjoyable environment. There’s too many people everywhere in your face with a microphone asking the same questions repeatedly. Everything is just bashing you. It’s just negativity.
Blaming the media, his fragile ego, and his gaping vagina.
I couldn’t care less that Bradley is suspended for the rest of the year. I’d be pissed if the Cubs were still in it, since he’s certainly their best option in right field. But the season has been over since about mid-August, and it doesn’t look like Bradley figures into their plans for 2010, especially if Lou Piniella comes back. Milton Bradley hates the media and has skin thinner than an onion. And maybe he was insinuating that the fans are too mean for him. But based on the quotes I’ve seen, I don’t think it’s fair of Hendry to say he’s blaming the fans.
At least not this time.

If you read the article, it does include the following:
“Asked whether he was talking about the fans, the media or even the Cubs organization, he replied: ‘It’s everything. It’s everybody.’” So it’s fair to interpret that as blaming the fans. But that’s not the worst thing he’s said this year. He’s painted the fans with a very broad brush as racists, without giving any specific examples or evidence. I’m sure that played a part in Hendry’s thinking, whether he admits it or not.
You know I can’t be bothered to read more than one thing. I guess I still think that’s not as bad as him bringing up the fans himself. And, you’re right, the racism comments he made earlier in the season were far worse, anyhow.
And because the fans are racist, he forgets how many outs there are in an ongoing inning and doesn’t distinguish himself at the plate during the season.
Good riddance – I had hopes for him, like most other folk here, but it’s really the same old story. And it’s never Milton’s fault.
Kind of like hoping that Charlie Brown gets to kick the football, but knowing that he won’t.
I was all about defending Bradley from those Cubs fans that just booed him for the sake of booing him. But, today I realized something, Milton Bradley is a complete asshole and deserved every boo he got. He brought this on himself. Hey Milton, if you are going to be an asshole, don’t be surprised when people treat you like you are an asshole.
The best part of Milton’s quote is that he plays harder than anybody on the field and never get credit for it.
Bye Milton. You’re a fucking douchebag.
This is the perfect opportunity for the Cubs to get the speedy left-handed CF Nyjer Morgan .307 avg. for Bradley & and all of his salary. Since nobody gives a shit about the Nationals Bradley could draw fans to Washington to boo & the media will leave him alone.
I’d also like to see Blanco as the starting SS & move Theriot to 2nd or another team while he still has value. Theriot had too many bonehead moves on the bases & can’t play defense under pressure. He tries too hard and makes things worse throwing ball when he should just hold it.
How do I get my name up here instead of guest?
If they get rid of Theriot, I’ll miss all those gritty pickoffs at first base.

Seems Joe Sheehan agrees with you:

Seems that Joe Sheehan is a moron. He thinks that Bradley is one of the Cubs’ best players, and asks, “Who the hell has ever been suspended for two weeks for what they said to the media?” Guess he’s forgotten about John Rocker (suspended for a lot longer than two weeks for comments in Sports Illustrated, although he only served 2 weeks after an arbitration hearing). Sure, Rocker’s comments were far worse, but that doesn’t make Sheehan any less ill-informed.
What a perfect picture for some photoshop fun. Remember when HJE used to do that? Remember all that?
