Cubs, Transactions

From our good friend PAUL SULLIVAN, “Cubs call up Jake Fox and two others, send down Bobby Scales and Neal Cotts, put Aaron Miles on DL.” Thanks to Waco Kid for noticing it.

That’s right. Neal Cotts AND Aaron Miles are not going to be in uniform for tonight’s game. Sadly (but not REALLY sadly), neither will Bobby Scales. From the article, here are the guys coming up:

Jake Fox, who is hitting .423 with 17 home runs and 50 runs batted in for Triple-A Iowa over 40 games, was called up. Joining the infielder from Iowa is shortstop Andres Blanco and left-handed reliever Jason Waddell. Blanco is hitting .314 with 4 home runs and 25 RBI. Waddell has made 18 appearances for Iowa and has a 5.40 earned-run average.

The Cubs actually have a legitimate backup shortstop on the roster for the first time all season, which is swell. It says something about Cotts when a guy with a 5.40 ERA in Iowa is apparently a better bullpen option. What that is, is hard to define.

I wonder what’s wrong with Miles. I mean, I know what’s wrong with him. But I mean what’s really wrong with him? Small penis?

Neal Cotts-Eaten By Wolves or Neal Cotts-Kidnapped By Bosnian Pirates would have been better headlines, but I’ll settle for him being sent down.

    Pleasing taste. Some monstorism.
