As Jim Hendry heads to the Winter Meetings next week, it seems his primary target will be a non-right-handed-hitting outfielder. Let’s honor the Fukudome by selecting which outfielder we think will replace him.

VORPGASM!!!
If he wanted, Adam Dunn could sleep at my house.
Where’s Crazy Milton?
He’s actually who I’d prefer, but 4-man Fukudomes are CAH-RAAAAZY!
I assume that Hendry will end up signing the Crab Juice.
19-18-18 (Abreu) as of now. This is pretty close.
I voted for Dunn but I’d like to see none. Dunn Has the best bat but the worst feet & glove he belongs in the AL. Abreu is too old & the Yankees & Phillies haven’t won a ring with him. Ibanez is sticking with the M’s. So really I think Milton Bradley for a year is the best known option but he’ll want more years. Any Cubans out there? Here is an absolute crazy thought: Barry Bonds. It’d cost only the MLB minimum. But Barry’s an a-hole. However I want to win dammit
I feel this is like the election in brewster’s millions. Where’s the non of the above option?
Voted Dunn, didn’t like it. I don’t want any of these schmucks.
I want Milton. His outrageous and unpredictable behavior is what this club needs.
I voted for Dunn because I hate him the most and I have no faith in Jim Hendry.
I actually think (and BP agrees) that Abreu is going to be pretty solid for another 2-3 years. I’ll take 20 HR, 90 RBI, a high OBP and 25 steals over anybody else mentioned any day.
Also, he’d be adequate in RF, which the other three (incl. Bradley) most assuredly would not.
People are still making the “ring” argument in baseball? Seriously?
Casey Blake? Delmon Young?
Bill Murray?
ok forget the ring. The Phillies got a lot better after he left going to the playoffs twice & winning the World Series this year. This was crazy but the more I think of it Barry Bonds for the MLB minimum makes great sense. Can always dump him later.@Bad Kermit -
Bonds can’t play LF anymore, let alone RF. Abreu is the only FA option that makes sense from both a lineup and defensive perspective.
You know that’s just a less extreme case of making the ring argument, right? Bobby Abreu and Jayson Werth had very similar years this year, for what it’s worth…
Actually, they got WORSE first, and choked down the stretch several times. In 2006 (without Abreu), Philapdelphia finished second, but 12.0 games behind the Mets. In contrast, the 2005 Phillies (with Abreu) were 2.0 games behind NL East winner Atlanta. Philapdelphia got better starting pitching and had Ryan Howard in 2007 and 2008. Losing ABreu hurt them; don’t delude yourself with gritty thinking.
The Cubs never won with Sandberg. If you think you should trade a player like that for Eckstein or Tadahito Iguchi, because they’re “winners,” then God have mercy on your soul.
The Phillies had garbage starting pitching for a long time. I’d like to think the emergence of Utley and Hamels, the addition of Howard, and the resurgent Rollins, Moyer, and Lidge had more to do with their recent success than losing Abreu.
Hey I never said that
