Friday Night Fukudome: Phillies vs. Rays

It’s been nearly a month since the last FNF because, quite frankly, thinking about Kosuke sort of pisses me off now. But that doesn’t mean the FNF must die. Anyhow, the World Series is tied at one game a piece and is already the most exciting World Series since 2002. What’s that? You’re not watching? Yeah, I don’t blame you. Anyhow, who are you taking?

I’ll be watching, just because I am a fan of the sport of baseball. I am prepared to have rotten produce hurled at my head for such a statement.

I didn’t have a rooting interest, but I’m almost starting to lean towards the Phillies, only because of those ri-gotdamn-diculous mohawks the Rays are sporting. Who do they think they are, night elves?

i cant help but wonder why “raging alcoholism” isn’t a choice.

I don’t really care to much but it would be nice if all GMs could learn from the $44 Million Rays.

I like the Rays because they’ve been beating up the Yankees and Red Sox since spring training. Also, the Rays have fewer players who punch women in the face.

I’ll always pull for the national league team to win.

What exactly would they learn? That with such a payroll they too can finish dead last for 10 straight years and if everything falls exactly into place they can make the playoffs once a decade?

@PenFoe - It’s called farming and not buying your way out. The Cubs should farm better.

I’d like to see the Cubs trade 2 of these 4 pitchers: Hardin then more preferably Dempster, Lilly (& Marshall if the other team prefers cheap youth) for A true Ace like Santana,Tim Lincecum or Cliff Lee. The forth pitcher means very little in the post season. The Cubs rotation was too balanced. Besides it’s gonna be 19-22 million to have Lilly & Dempster on the staff. The Cubs should give 22 Million to an ace & develop 0.4 million 26-year old Marshall I think there’s a small chance to get Cliff Lee. Santana doesn’t want to move.

Looks like 45 of you were WRONG!

haha I wonder if that poll’s results would be a little different if Kerm had waited to post it today.

@Frasier Crane -

I bet the Giants and Mets are just waiting by the phones to trade Lincecum or Santana for Harden and Dempster. Having 3 solid pitchers is all well and good in the playoffs, but you need 4-5 good ones to get there in the first place.

Plus, the hitting has been the main issue in the playoffs the last two years.

Yeah, I voted with the Phillies leading 3-1 in the Series…so I thought that was an informed choice.

Maybe you answered somewhere else, but how long is Kosuke signed for?

I am thinking of ol’ FooKoo when I see Longoria strike out again, again and again…

Thanks much, BK.

So when can I expect to see Prior touted as the Comeback Player of the Year for ‘09? That’s happening soon, right?
