Gotta say Edmonds. Considering that Gaetti only played 37 games for the Cubs, his production per game was a bit higher than Edmonds’, but on the other hand consider that Edmonds did nothing for his first two weeks until exploding in the Colorado comeback. And he’s got three multi-homer games already! I also give Edmonds credit for more valuable defense and his ability to contribute to a larger chunk of the season than Gaetti outweighs Gaetti’s slightly higher per-game numbers. Plus, as has been said, this team is so much better than the ‘98 team that Edmonds’ contributions have been that much more important, helping to shore up what was basically the only weak link on the field coming out of spring training.
I vote Gaetti, only because we haven’t gotten to the playoffs yet. He could still suck a fat one in the postseason which would pretty much erase everything he did in the regular season. Kind of like how we brought back Gaetti the following season and he crapped the bed.

I’m voting for Gaetti as he was actually a twin in fredbird’s eyes
