Fox Reunites with Old Friend DL; Ascanio Called Up

I have once again forgotten that some of you may expect actual Cubs news on HJE every once in a while. In case you hadn’t heard, the 11 1/3-inning Cub career of Chad Fox is again on the ropes, as he was put on the 15-day disabled list yesterday with a case of being really old. The Cubs called up right-handed reliever Jose Ascanio to take Fox’s place. Ascanio was acquired from the Braves in the offseason for reliever Will Ohman.

That kid better stay away from my M&M’s jar. I keep them here at my locker so that everybody doesn’t take them.

Sometimes I hop out of his pouch to steal some M&Ms, but I usually just get caught between the locker and the pouch.

That sounds more like something I would say.

Well that’s a very safe place for them.

Interchangeable parts, eh?

No less an authority than FOX Sports (compliments of MSN, natch) has this to say…

Ascanio is already way more effective than Ohman after two innings as a Cub.

I think there should be more references to the office on this website.

I read that over lunch. Meh.

I’m not sure who is dumber in the comments section: the knee-jerk Cub haters that somehow think games played 50-odd years ago affect the current team, or the kool-aid soaked “Cubz Rool” contingent defending the team.

I concur. We really need to euthanize this place

More Office references = More IAN.

Is that really what we want?

Really doesn’t take much, does it?
