Sorry Kerm, can’t fuck with perfection.

I didn’t see this in the Shoutbox – did anyone else notice that after Lohse’s first pitch to Fontenot in the fourth, the scoreline at the top briefly changed to 6-0 and said “Home Run Cubs” for like three seconds? Then it changed back to 3-0… and then, on the next pitch, Fontenot hit a home run and made it 6-0. One of the oddest experiences of my life.

  5. Carlos Says:

I noticed that, and immediatly thought that the Fox feed was indeed behind for 20 seconds — the graphics guys probably weren’t synced up with the picture.

  6. Brick Says:

I saw that too. It was incredibly odd – my brain saw it, tried to explain it by imagining that it was a replay, realized it wasn’t, then shrugged it off as a graphics malfunction. Then about a half minute after the homer, I remembered it and thought it was either an amazing coincidence, or that the fix was in.

Graphics are usually done on site, though. It would be extremely weird if the graphics weren’t synced up with the picture, especially since that error would have required the graphics guys to be (a) off-site and (b) watching a second, live feed of the game, which makes no sense because it would lead to errors like that while being completely unnecessary. I had the same idea at first but the more I think about it the less sense it makes. I think it was just a really weird accident.

  24. Pat Says:

Unbelievable. My keyboard is covered in coffee. Thanks.

By the way, I hate anagrams too.

  25. Bad Kermit Says:

Awesome. HJE’s first game of Photoshop tennis.

  26. Bad Kermit Says:

This is by far the best “contest” yet. Outstanding submissions by everyone.

  27. StPatrick Says:

Yeah, that was odd. I find it hard to believe that the two events aren’t connected though, just because it was Fontenot of all people who hit the homer. If it was just coincedence, the odds against it happening are pretty astronomical, what with the low number of graphics mistakes multiplied by (Fontenot’s ABs / Fontenot’s HR rate).
