Anyhow, Greene’s OPS away from Petco is .834. I’d take that out of our SS, particularly since he doesn’t need to crow-hop to get the ball to first on the fly. His numbers say he hits like shit at Wrigley, but his BAbip is also low (.186), so he’s mostly been unlucky.

What this says to me is the guy is a free swinger. If he were any kind of decent hitter you’d think he’d figure out a way to take advantage of Petco’s cavernous outfield to better than below the MendOBPza line. And sure enough, last year he struck out almost 100 more times than he walked. I don’t care if he hit 27 home runs; he was in the top ten in the league in outs made. We need another guy like that like we need another hole in the head. I’d rather have the Cedeniot two-headed monster. Plus we drafted Greene in 2001 and he didn’t sign, so fuck him.

Please, please, don’t wish for Greene to come to the Cubs….he’s one of the few reasons the Pads aren’t the complete laughing stock of the NL.

But if you can guarantee that getting him will get the Cubs a World Series appearance, I say do it. In fact, I’ll call up Bud now.

If you have a narrow lead, in the late innings, why don’t you go with your best defense, be they starters on not? In Mike Nadel’s article, he brings up the fact that Lou kept Soriano in there. If Alfie is as bad as everyone says, and he’s coming off of the DL recently, why was he out there in late in the game? \
