Get ready for the realization of the recurring wet dream you’ve been having since Kerry Wood was converted to the bullpen. It looks like Lou Piniella is on the verge of naming Wood the Cubs’ closer for the 2008 season. I thought for sure it was going to be Howry, but had secretly hoped Wood would win the role. The way he’s pitched this spring, he’s earned it.
In the words of Len Kasper, “Ohhhhhhh, baby!”

Saw Kerry throw yesterday for the first time this spring. Holy shit, that man is throwing HARD. Major Woody right now. We Got Wood indeed.
Knock on Wood?
…man won’t last two weeks. God and the saints preserve him, this bein’ Saint Patrick’s Day and all.
Wet dream is correct. I’ve got a major hard-on for Woody in the closer’s role. I honestly don’t even care if he’s the best choice or not (though I’d really rather have Marmol for the 7th/8th anyways), this is how it should be. If Wood can’t be a starter, he should damn well flex some nuts as the closer.
Morning Wood?
Kerry on a Les Paul. A couple of really heavy pieces of (W)ood. (Try hefting a real Les Paul & you’ll know what I mean.)
NO STAIRWAY! DENIED!
Are Kerry’s eyes in that photo trained on an instructional video?
Is our closer a protégé of Esteban’s?
I hope Wood pitches well…but I’ll play him under the table… HA HA HA!
