Hey ouch. I was born in Evergreen Park and have been a White Sox fan for most of my 53 years of living in the Chicago area. I do not hate the Cubs and I am a "real White Sox fan" I do know of the fans that you speak of because they have yelled at me and accused me of not being a "real White Sox fan". However, I have to tell you that I see and have felt the sting of many a Cub fan over my many years of existence. I have been yelled at and I have been insulted just because of wearing my White Sox ball cap. So you see this is a problem for you Northsiders also.

I have always rooted for the Cubs and I consider myself a Chicago Fan. Of course if the Sox play the Cubs of course I root for my south side team. Here is a news flash there are other White Sox fans who feel the same way I do. You speak of fans of the White Sox and their rude behavior well judging by what you wrote I guess you can count yourself pretty much in the league of those unruly and rude fans. The truth of the matter is that I think you and those fans (both Sox and Cubs) enjoy this rivalry and are looking for something to complain about. The real deal is that this rivalry is a fun thing and should be left to some harmless teasing. When people like you from the Cubs and people like you from the White Sox hype up on hurling insults at one another I think it is a symptom of something that isn't quite right with you. Perhaps your mother didn't give you enough attention.

My daughter, my brother and many friends are Cub fans and newsflash we all get along. In fact when the Sox won the World Series all of my Cub friends rooted for my Sox. When the Cubs go for the big one I will be right there rooting them on also. This isn't the Civil War, come on and grow up. Its people like you that make Chicago look crazy. Go find some other cause like world peace or finding a cure for cancer and say something more important then "I hate the White Sox"<div class="comment-remix-meta"><a href="#" class="replyto" onclick="replyto('38204','Kathie'); return false;">Reply</a> - <a href="#" class="quote" onclick="quote('38204','Kathie','Hey ouch.

BK — You are right on target. The typical White Sox fan’s behavior shows a kind of inferiority complex that negates their constant assertion — “Cubs still suck!” I wrote a letter to the Trib’s sports page editor once to point this out. The typical reaction to teams that “suck” is indifference. Nobody bothers with hating Tampa Bay, the Orioles or the Pittsburgh nowadays and I doubt that anybody ever bothered to hate the St. Louis Browns or the Washington Senators. People generally save their hatred for teams that they fear and/or see as superior. Note the Sox fan’s hatred of the Yankees and their now growing hatred of the recently successful Red Sox.

My own reaction to the Sox fan is “Why do you care? Your team just won the World Series a couple of years ago.”

When you go around acting like you feel inferior, I don’t think you can blame other people for taking your word for it and treating you accordingly.

They really need help.
