What, No Category for “Made-Up Nonsense”?

I’d prefer a Dundie.

Some blog I’ve never heard of is apparently giving out awards I don’t understand to people I don’t like. Here is the text of an e-mail I received regarding a “first annual” inaugural (don’t you have to have a SECOND one for it to be “annual”?) Cubs blog award thing:

It’s officially awards season, and we at Cubscast are attempting to spotlight the best and brightest Cubs sites on the internet via our 1st Annual “Best Cubs Website Awards” (affectionately called “The Strodes”). Nominations are being accepted through Feb 15, and we’ll be announcing the winners on a special episode of Cubscast on Monday February 25th. Awards winners will be chosen by Cubscast hosts Andrew Figgins, Zach Baliva, and Matt Sheppo (aka Lou, Sneetch, and Sheps).

We strongly encourage you or your readers to nominate your site for an award in one of the following categories:

Best Cubs Blog – Individual Author

Best Cubs Blog – Multiple Author

Best Cubs Site – Overall – Non-Blog

Best Cubs Rumor Site

Best Cubs Player Site

Best Cubs Humor Site

Best Cubs Merchandise/Memorabilia/Clothing Site

Excellence in Diction – Best Original Cubs-Related Word or Phrase

Lifetime Achievement Award
Anyone is welcome to nominate a site…to do so simply add a comment to the Awards thread on our website (linked below):

We are currently producing both “Nominated” and “Award Winner” graphics for this that we encourage you to place on your site during the month of February if it is nominated. Two general graphics are attached (gif format). Any questions please ask away. Cubscast is not eligible for any of these awards — we’re simply doing this as a benefit to our listeners and the online Cubs fan community in general. Several sites have already been nominated by our listeners.

The nominees so far are what you’d expect: mostly The Cub Reporter and BleedCubbieBlue. You know. Sites that give you diarrhea. I’m disappointed that there is no “Best Post” award so that we might further enrage the “Cubbie” fans who still think the Hendry story was made up. Do what you will with the link, but regardless of what happens, I’m going to go ahead and imagine Al at BCB feverishly running a smear campaign against HJE in order to lock up his award.
