“I’m hung like an Infante!”As you know, I like Jacque Jones only slightly more than I like Ryan Dempster. He’s a dumb, bad baseball player. However, he is currently the Cubs’ best option to play center field next year, and Jim Hendry is on the brink of trading him* to the Detroit Tigers for the (terrible) utility player, Omar Infante.

Sometimes, I think Cubs fans unnecessarily rag on every single move that the team makes just to be negative. This is not one of those times. Considering Jones is in the last year of a very reasonable contract (in hindsight), considering that center field is the one outfield position where the Cubs have absolutely NO depth, and considering that my faith in Hendry’s ability to evaluate whether Felix Pie or Eric Patterson are capable of playing center is non-existent, this move, if it does happen, is flat-out stupid and worthy of your mockery.

UPDATE: In case you didn’t notice, this trade was finalized. Go ahead and start scapegoating Infante now.
