Guys, guys, guys. I know you’re frustrated. I know it’s no fun to be down 0-1. But please keep some perspective. That was a “must-win” game for the D-Bags and a “hope for the best” game for the Cubs. Let’s also realize that one team HAS to be down a game after one. It doesn’t really mean anything.
However, if Carlos doesn’t have cramps, Lou is an idiot for pulling him. If he does have cramps, Carlos is an idiot for not fucking taking care of that issue. Be pissed about that.
Oh, and be pissed about all the horrible plate approaches.
And the runners leading off innings on second base and just standing there for three more batters.
And Frank Caliendo.
Go win Game Two, Ted. You’re the stopper.

Completely agree. I don’t really blame Lou for pulling Z. I blame him for not pinch hitting him in the 7th. Everything is fine. Webb is their horse. they can have this. We’ve got the Tedd. And I kinda like Frank Caliendo. I’m sorry, it’s late and I’m drunk.
there is no question that WE HAVE TO WIN TOMORROW..NO IFS AND OR BUTS ABOUT IT!
I agree with that, Al.
For the record, Lou said he pulled Z with 85 pitches so he could bring him back on 3 days’ rest. He also tore some reporter a new asshole for accusing him of “looking ahead.”
Lou has a point about one thing. No matter what he did with the pitching, they weren’t winning that game only scoring 1 run on 4 hits. If you want to hang your hat on something, how about the fact they sent 7 batters to the plate in the 6th and got only 1 run? That’s the absolute fewest runs you can possibly get in that situation.
Win tomorrow, and all of us manic Cubs fans are happy again.
One more thing, and then it’s bedtime.
Do you think that anyone is counting the Angels or the Phillies out right now? They’re in the exact same situation the Cubs are in. Actually, the Phillies are in a WORSE position, having lost Game One at home. I don’t give a fuck what’s happened in the past. The only reasons to be on the ledge about the Cubs right now are all silly ones. Calm. Down.
Bad Kermit, my friend, you are wise beyond, and within, your many, many years…
Alright, I admit it, I went to bed depressed thinking “shit, this is it, they’ve blown it now”. But now after having a bit of sleep
I realize it’s not really the end. I still think Lou made a bone-head move removing big Z , but I do realize that Marmol has been our go to guy, and if he pitched like he did all season, we’d be saying what a fucking genius Lou was for doing it. Let’s hope Uncle Ted has a great game and those god-damned Cubs bats wake the fuck up! I know Brandy is good and all, but they looked like shit against him.
Agree 100% with this. The Cubs can still come home with a spilt. Also, the rest of the Dbacks rotation is average at best.
After seeing Webb’s nasty shit last night, there is no question Cubs hitters will feast on the shitbags going the next 3 games. It’s like when you play sports against your older brother and his friends and suck, then just completely dominate friends your own age afterwards. We got Rich Hill, who is Ted Lilly without the run support, going against one of the worst righties in baseball and then Z going against a Rick Ankiel wanna-be that forgets he’s in MLB to pitch, not to hit. We got this.
it’s time to get off of lou’s back, unless you screamed to everyone “this is a mistake” during the top of the 7th…the guy’s at 85 pitches, he’s only going one more inning at most…the problem is that our “hitters” had no chance with webb and were going to see lyon and valverde whether carlos pitched 12 innings or not…their hitters were going to see our pen sometime, and that’s not good…just be glad it wasn’t 1-1 in the 9th and we had to bring Dempster in, then they’d be crucifying Lou for that!
Lyon sucks, Aramis and Floyd crushed his straight fastball but hit them right at D’Bags.
This game didn’t bother me too much. I was pissed at some of the approaches, but a few guys (Aramis in particular) crushed the ball, but they ended up with loud outs. The only thing that bugged me was that Marmol gave up those 2 runs. He’s been unhittable all year, and you hate to lose that aura in the playoffs, especially giving up a double to Augie Ojeda.
I’m just worried about Davis today. Yes, he’s an incredibly shitty left-handed pitcher, but unfortunately, that’s spelled doom for the Cubs this season. I mean the guy pitched like 8 shutout innings against us, walking one and striking out 8 this year. He’s too shitty, and that frightens me.
Let’s be honest, we’re in trouble
I’m with Kermit, even though I’m pissed about the wasted opportunites by the offense. Fucking hell.
And spot on with the 1 run comment. And for those who want to go ahead and Monday Morning QB the decision to bring in Marmol (one of the best relievers in the NL), who’s to say that Zambrano doesn’t go out there instead and get shelled?
I’m with Senator. Get off Lou’s back.
Webb was completely sick yesterday. Even good hitters like Lee were flailing away like a blind-folded six-year-old trying to hit a pinata. The pitching matchups are a little more in the Cubs favor the next couple days.
And that Cubs fan behind home plate who was flashing morse code at Valverde last night promised to bring a strobe light and a pair of semaphore flags to the game tonight.
I’ve calmed down. I am no longer pissed, just crestfallen.
Were the Cubs “supposed” to win last night against Webb. Probably not. But for once, if we can’t blow people out, I want the Cubs to get the big hit in the big game at the right time and win it.
I want to get that big win on the road. I want our manager to make the correct move at just the right time. I want the guys on our roster who are paid to be studs, to hit like studs, even against the other teams stud pitcher. Fuck that, particularly against a stud pitcher.
I want the feeling of a team of destiny and I don’t have it.
Well, if we don’t beat the fuck out of Doug Davis and win tonight, then everybody can get worried.
No issues with pulling Zambrano.
Big issues with having leadoff guy on 3 times and not bunting at all
Twice leadoff man was on 2nd with no outs, no bunt either time (and yes, even Soriano can bunt there, Zambrano sure as HELL can.)
I’m not panicking yet. Brandon webb showed why he won the Cy Young last year with the nasty shit he had going on. I have no issue with Lou going to Marmol. Marmol’s been money all year and will continue to be money. Everyone has a bad innign from time to time, Marmol just picked a really shitty time to have his. If we can’t beat Doug Davis, then I’ll freak out. If we can’t beat Davis, we have no business in the world Series anyway, so we might as well just go home at that point.
Oh, and why did the one jackass in the game have to be a Cubs fan? That dude with the mirror was all over the TV with signs and other shit, all game long, plus yapping on his cell. You’re at a playoff game for the love of Jebus. Stop perpetuating the Cub fan sterotype. Sheesh!
Under Armor guy was the biggest douchebag I’ve ever seen at an MLB game. How did he NOT think he was going to get yelled at? I was stunned it took the 2nd base ump so long.
CT is completely right. If the Cubs get swept in Arizona by Doug Fucking Davis, THEN everyone should press the panic button. I just don’t see that happening, though. I sure hope, against the lefty, DeRosa is hitting 2nd where he belongs and Jock is hitting no higher than 7th.
Jake, does your boy Thunder have a big game in him tonight? I wouldn’t be surprised if he was starting…
You’re not serious, are you Jack?
It may be best to accept reality, Jack. The guy at the game last night is not the only one. Look around the next time you’re at the ballpark. They’re everywhere.
Right, Mike. Cuz Sox fans are the classiest bunch in MLB. Every team has shitty annoying fans. Give your tired “argument” a rest and go work on putting something original on your sad website. Perhaps even more sad than the site is the fact that you have to spend your October beating off to Cubs blogs (yes, I’ve seen you over at BCB too).
As for the game. No problems with Lou here either. I don’t even have a problem with Sori not bunting. Does he even know how? I think we’ve seen him do it once all season. He’s a hitter (well, supposedly)… let him hit. I’m fine with taking Z out after 6 not only for the reasons mentioned by others. What hasn’t been said is that in games when he’s put in 6 solid innings, Z has typically started to come unhinged in his last inning on the mound. How many times have we seen him go an out or two into the 7th and then start giving up walks/hits, and what’s to say it wouldn’t have happened again? I think Lou knew this as well as he knew that he was giving the ball to a guy who pitched middle relief as well as anyone in baseball for the last month and a half.
BK and others have it right. Let’s wait one more game before we flip out and diarrhea over every decision Lou et al. make.
Carl, I think that might have been Mike’s point. There are d-bags rooting for all teams, including the Cubs.
As for the diarrhea, I’m drinking Old Style for the 2nd night in a row. I have no chance to NOT be shitting through a screen door by morning.
Hey!…I Googled for brandy love, but found your page about Relax…and have to say thanks. nice read.
