You did, CT. I would have given you a shout-out, but I was afraid it would end up making absolutely no sense in 20 years when they read the B126 aloud at my funeral.

I love this list. I'm really enjoying it. You know what else I enjoyed? Clicking on that box score link to confirm that our dumbass manager was indeed batting Jeff Blauser leadoff in that game against KC. And I was delighted to see that MANNY ALEXANDER was batting second and DHing (!!!).

Also, I'm going to pretend that I inspired the cyst comment.

Thanks, the UPS guy just dropped them off-- I'm reading them over now. It says here that your teeth were damaged by drinking gallons of turpentine to numb the pain of this season.

Kermit, I just want to acknowledge the mental anguish you must be going through writing this list-- it's clear that as we approach #1, the entries are taking you to a darker and darker place. If there is a Cubs fan found passed out in a Naperville-area batting cage with the word "Neifi" carved into his arm about a week from now, I'll just assume that it's you.

Can we just admit the inevitable and put Soriano #1 on this list now?

Too soon?

What's sad is that we, as uneducated baseball fans, can grasp the concept of not signing a guy based on 1 or 2 good seasons, but rather by looking at the whole of a player's career. Unfortunately, our GMs (past and present) who have spent the makority of their adult lives in the baseball profession, can't wrap their tiny little minds around this idea. I like Mark Derosa, but he had one great year in Texas and several so-so years before that. If he'd been signed as our utillity infielder/outfielder, I have no issue. He's a marked improvement over the likes of Neifi and Ramon Martinez. But a starter he is not. Hopefully, when Eric Patterson is ready to come up, we are able to bump DeRosa back to being that 2nd/3rd/Short/poorman's LF backup we all know he is and don't do something foolish like trade Patterson because his position is 'blocked' at the major league level.

The powers that be also need to stop signing guys who either devastate Cubs' pitching or dominate Cub hitters and make sure they look at how those players do against other teams as well. There are guys who beat the Cubs like a drum on a regular basis, but suck ass against, say, the Braves. If I'm GM, I'm going to focus more on how said player does against Atlanta then the collection of pussies who have been playing at Wrigley the past several years. I really think sometimes the only games Hendry is watching are ours. Chances are, if someone owns the Cubs the whole season (or even in 1 series-see Juan Pierre), then that player will be in Cub pinstripes the following season. And more than likely, he will suck and management will scratch their heads as to the reason.
